- A sales call script is an outline prepared for telecallers on how to proceed with each stage of a sales call - from the opening to your discovery questions to the sales pitch, handling objections and the next steps.
- Here are 25 free templates available on this blog; 3 of which are in Hinglish. The scripts are for cold calls, lead callback calls, follow-up calls, closing calls, telesales calls, customer service calls and objection handling.
- Keep your opening lines below 30 seconds. The discovery questions must be asked before the sales pitch, and every call must end with a next step.
- How do you know whether the script works? Track two reports every week - Keep an eye on connected calls percentage, and how many calls lasted less than 30 seconds.

It contains structured instructions on how to begin the sales call, what questions to ask to better understand prospects’ needs, how to pitch the product or service, handle objections, and schedule follow-up actions.
Call sales script ensures consistency in every call and drives the prospect towards making a decision.

What is a sales call script?
A sales call script is a document that outlines the sales call process. It specifies what the telecaller is supposed to say and ask during the call.
The call script for sales includes the introduction, the purpose of the call, questioning techniques to understand prospects' needs, a brief product or service pitch, pre-drafted responses to the most likely objections, and a follow-up action point.
Good scripts are built from the calls that convert best, so every telecaller on the team can follow an approach that has already worked.
During a call, the telecaller keeps the script open on screen or on paper and works through it step by step. They change the words to fit each prospect, but the order and the goal of the call stay the same.
Depending on the team, you may hear it called a call script, telecalling script, telesales script or sales talk script. All of these names refer to the same document.
Why do sales teams use call scripts?
- The message stays consistent across the team. Every telecaller shares the same price, offer and key details, so prospects get the same information no matter who calls them.
- New telecallers start sooner. With a script, a new hire can make live calls in the first week and learn from each one.
- Fewer steps get missed. The script makes sure every call asks the qualifying questions and ends with a booked next step.
- You can measure what works. When everyone uses the same script, you can change 1 line and check whether more calls reach the next step.
What should a sales call script include?
Every script below follows the same 6 parts. Once you know them, you can adapt any template to your product.
| Part | What it does | Example line |
|---|---|---|
| Opener | Says who you are and asks if it is a good time to call. | "Hi Rahul, this is Priya from [Company]. Do you have 2 minutes?" |
| Reason for calling | Shows why the call is relevant to them | "You enquired about 2BHK flats in [locality] on our website yesterday, so I wanted to share the options that match your search." |
| Discovery questions | Finds prospect’s need before you pitch | "Is the flat for your family to live in, or as an investment? And what budget do you have in mind?" |
| Pitch | Connects their need to your product in 2 or 3 sentences | "Our [project] has 2BHK flats from ₹[price], 10 minutes from [landmark], with possession in [month, year]." |
| Objection handling | Gives prepared answers to common pushback | "If Rahul says the price is high: "That's fair to check. Shall I send you a price comparison with 3 nearby projects on WhatsApp?" |
| Call to action | Locks 1 specific next step | "Can I book a site visit for you this Saturday at 11 AM?" |

How do you write a sales call script?
- Decide what the call should achieve. Every call has 1 job: book a meeting, clear the prospect's doubts or close the sale. Without a clear goal, calls drift and usually end with the prospect saying, "I'll think about it."
Tip: Write the goal in 1 line at the top of the script, so the telecaller sees it before every call.
Example: For a credit card call, the goal could be "Get the customer to start their application on this call."
- Know who you're calling before you dial. Check where the lead came from, what they asked about and any notes from earlier calls.
Tip: Spend 30 seconds on the lead's details before each call. Mentioning their enquiry tells them you're calling for a reason.
Example: "You checked your credit card eligibility on our website yesterday, so I'm calling to share the cards you qualify for."
- Write a short opening. Say your name, your company and why you're calling, then ask if it's a good time to talk.
Tip: Read it aloud with a timer. If it takes more than 20 seconds, cut words. If the prospect says they're busy, ask "When can I call you back today?" and fix a time before you hang up.
Example: "Hi Rahul, this is Priya from [Bank]. I'm calling about your credit card enquiry. Is this a good time for 2 minutes?"
- Prepare questions that get the prospect talking. Questions that start with "what", "how" or "when" get longer answers than yes/no questions, and those answers tell you what to pitch.
Tip: Note the prospect's answers during the call, then use their exact words when you pitch.
Example: Ask "What do you spend on most each month: shopping, fuel or travel?" If Rahul says fuel, pitch with "You said you spend most on fuel, so this card gives you [benefit] on every fuel payment."
- Prepare answers to the objections you hear most. List the 4 or 5 objections your team hears every week. Write 1 short answer for each, and end it with a question so the conversation continues.
Tip: Ask your 2 best telecallers how they reply to each objection, and use their words in the script.
Example: If the prospect says "The annual fee is too high," reply "I understand. The fee is waived if you spend ₹[amount] in a year. Based on your monthly spending, would you cross that?"
- End every call with a specific next step. Ask for a clear action with a day and time, then confirm it on WhatsApp right after the call.
Tip: After a week, listen to 10 recorded calls. Find the line where most prospects lose interest and rewrite it.
Example: "I can start your application right now. It takes about 5 minutes. Do you have your PAN card and Aadhaar handy?"

25 Sales call script templates to use
Each sales call script example below tells you when to use it, gives you the full script and ends with a practical tip. Replace everything in [brackets] with your own details before you dial.
Cold call scripts
Cold calls are the hardest calls to get right, because the prospect isn't expecting you. Use these 4 scripts with our cold calling tips for 2026
1. B2B cold call script
When to use it: Use this script when you call a business owner or manager for the first time and they don't know your company yet. Your aim is to get them interested enough to agree to a 15-minute meeting, where you can explain your product in detail.
Tip: Offer 2 specific time slots. It is easier for a busy prospect to pick one than to suggest a time themselves.
2. B2C cold call script
When to use it: your first call to an individual customer from a lead list. The goal is to qualify them and book the next step.
Tip: Ask 1 yes/no qualifying question before giving any detail, so you don't spend time on people who can't buy. In India, check numbers against the DND registry before calling consumers.
3. Gatekeeper script
When to use it: a receptionist or assistant answers the call. The goal is to reach the decision maker, or get their direct contact.
Tip: Ask for the receptionist's name and use it when you call again. They decide whether your call goes through, so treat them with the same respect as the decision maker.
4. Voicemail script
When to use it: If the prospect didn't answer your call and the call goes to voicemail. The goal is to get a callback or a reply to your message.
Tip: Keep the message under 25 seconds. If you call from an office line that can't take callbacks, say your direct number twice, slowly. Many Indian prospects don't check voicemail, so the WhatsApp message often gets the reply.
Lead callback, follow-up and closing scripts
5. Inbound lead callback script
When to use it: Use this script when you call back a lead who contacted you by calling, clicking an ad or filling a form on your website. Call as soon as you can, while they still remember the enquiry. Your aim is to understand what they need and book the next step.
Tip: Mention where the enquiry came from in your first line. Leads often enquire with several companies, and this helps them remember yours.
6. Follow-up call script
When to use it: For use on the second or subsequent call to a prospect who expressed interest but has not made a decision. Your goal will be to provide them with an additional reason to proceed.
Tip: Bring 1 new piece of information on every follow-up, so the prospect has a reason to stay on the call.
7. Last-attempt call script
When to use it: Use this script if you have contacted a prospect multiple times by phone and through messages but haven't received any response. Your goal here is to receive a definitive yes or no answer so you get a clarity whether to keep following up.
Tip: A direct question is easy to answer, and either reply helps you. A yes gives you an active lead, and a no frees your time for other leads.
8. Product demo call script
When to use it: Use this script for a demo call that has been scheduled, and the prospect has allocated 20 to 30 minutes to view your product. The goal is to demonstrate how your product will help solve their issues and agree on what next step to take.
Tip: Show only the features linked to problems the prospect mentioned. Mention the rest in your follow-up email.
9. Closing script
When to use it: Use this script when the prospect has already seen your demo or quote and the purchase decision is pending. Your aim is to make that decision and deal with any outstanding issues.
Tip: Always mention the start date and the first next step, so the prospect knows exactly what happens after they say yes. Once the deal is done, ask for a referral while the customer is happy. Our referral request script shows you how.
Telesales and telemarketing scripts
10. Telesales script template
When to use it: Utilize this script for making sales to a potential customer during one single phone conversation. This script is for the products that can be easily purchasable via phone, like a subscription, membership, or a single-service. The goal here is to make the sale in one telephone call.
Tip: Say the price before you ask for the sale. Prospects trust you more when there are no surprises at the end.
11. Telemarketing script
When to use it: This script can be used for outreaching calls that either advertise the offer, product or event. The objective here is to create interest in the prospect such that they take a specific action like making a booking or asking for more details about the offer or event.
Tip: Write 2 versions of your first line and test each on about 100 calls. Keep the one that gets more registrations.
Telesales scripts by industry
These 5 scripts cover the industries where telecalling teams make the most calls. For more industry scripts, see our healthcare appointment booking call scripts and phone advertisement script templates.
12. Real estate sales script
When to use it: Use this script when you call the lead who has enquired about the property through a property portal or your website. Your objective is to arrange a site visit.
Tip: Ask early whether the property is for living in or for investment. Families care about schools, commute and possession dates. Investors care about rental income and resale value. For more, see our real estate cold calling scripts.
13. Loan sales script
When to use it: Use this script to contact the prospect who either checked their loan eligibility or made an inquiry for a loan. The objective of this call is to identify their requirement and initiate the application process.
Tip: Quote the interest rate as a range until the documents are verified, and read your lender's required disclosures exactly as written.
14. Insurance sales script
When to use it: Use this script to contact the individual requesting a health or term insurance quote. The objective here is to make the appropriate recommendation and finalize the sale.
Tip: State waiting periods and exclusions on the call. Customers who first learn about them at claim time are more likely to cancel or complain.
15. EdTech admission counselling script
When to use it: Use this script to call a parent or student who enquired about a course. Your aim is to book a free demo class.
Tip: Speak to both the parent and the student if you can. The parent usually pays, but the student has to want to attend. For more, see our EdTech sales scripts for parents and students.
16. B2B software sales script
When to use it: Use this script to call a company when something recent gives you a reason to call, such as a hiring post, a new office or funding news. Your aim is to book a demo.
Tip: Use the trigger in your first line. It answers the prospect's first question: why are you calling me now?
Customer service sales scripts
These scripts add a sales step to service calls with existing customers. One rule applies to all 3: solve the customer's issue first, and never make an offer while a complaint is still open.
17. Upsell script
When to use it: Use this script when an existing customer is close to their plan limit or would clearly benefit from a higher plan. Your aim is to move them to the plan that fits their usage.
Tip: Base the offer on the customer's own usage. They can check the numbers themselves, so the offer sounds like helpful advice.
18. Cross-sell script
When to use it: Use this script when a customer has bought 1 product and a second product fills a gap in it. Your aim is to add the second product.
Tip: Offer only products that solve a problem the customer has mentioned or fill a gap in what they already bought.
19. Renewal script
When to use it: This script should be used about 30 days prior to renewal of your customers' subscriptions, plans, or policies. Your goal here is to renew the subscription and troubleshoot any potential issue beforehand.
Tip: Keep a record of every cancellation reason. After a few months, the most common reasons show you what to fix.
Sales pitch scripts
The sales pitch is the key component of the sales call where you sell your value proposition to your potential client. This is done most effectively post-discovery, when you already know what your customer needs.
20. Sales pitch script
When to use it: When you’ve asked your discovery questions, and the prospect wishes to know your offering. Your goal is to connect your product with the problem they mentioned earlier.
Tip: Repetition of the problem helps build trust and get an affirmation before pitching.
21. 30-second call pitch
When to use it: Use this when a busy prospect gives you only a few seconds, or asks "What does your company do?" Your aim is to explain your value quickly and get them talking.
Tip: Write your pitch, read it aloud with a timer, and cut until it takes 30 seconds or less. For ways to deliver it, read our guide to sales pitch techniques.
22. Objection handling script
When to use it: any time a prospect pushes back. Each answer accepts the concern, then asks a question, so the prospect tells you more.
| Common Customer Objections | What to say while tacking objections |
|---|---|
| "It's too expensive." | "I understand. Can I ask what you're comparing it with?" (Let them answer.) "[Product] saves you [time or money] on [problem], so it pays for itself in about [time]. We also have a smaller plan at ₹[price]. Would that work better for you?" |
| "I'm not interested." | "Understood. Is it the timing, or does [problem] not apply to you?" [If timing, book a callback. If it doesn't apply, thank them and end the call.] |
| "Send me an email." | "Sure, I'll send it right away. Would you like details on the price, or on how it works?" (Let them answer.) "Done. I'll call you on [day] to answer any questions. Does that work for you?" |
| "Call me later." | "Of course. Would [day] at [time] work, or [day] at [time]?" |
| "I need to talk to my [boss/spouse/partner]." | "Of course. What do you think their main question will be? Could we do a short call with both of you on [day]?" |
| "I don't have time right now." | "No problem. It takes 5 minutes. Is [day] at [time] better?" |
| "I'll wait until interest rates drop." | "I understand. Nobody can say when rates will change, and prices in [locality] have kept rising. If rates fall later, you can look at refinancing. Shall we look at 2 or 3 options within your budget?" |
Tip: Ask your top 2 reps for the exact words prospects use, and write answers to those. For more, read our guide to objection handling in sales and our sales objection scripts for common objection
Hinglish sales call scripts
Many Indian telecalling teams speak to customers in Hinglish. These are Hinglish versions of the lead callback, follow-up and objection scripts above. Keep product names, prices and numbers in English, since customers often use the English terms.
23. Lead callback script in Hinglish
When to use it: Use this script to call back a lead who is more comfortable in Hindi. It follows the same steps as template 5.
Tip: Add "ji" after the customer's name on the first call. Switch fully to English if the customer replies in English.
24. Follow-up call script in Hinglish
When to use it: Use this script for a second or later call to a Hindi-speaking prospect who showed interest earlier. It follows the same steps as template 6.
Tip: Mention 1 detail from the last call in your first sentence, so the customer knows you remember them.
25. Objection handling script in Hinglish
When to use it: any time a Hindi-speaking prospect pushes back. These are Hinglish answers to 5 of the objections in template 22.
| Objection | What to say |
|---|---|
| "Bahut mehenga hai." | "Samajh sakta/sakti hoon. Aap kisse compare kar rahe hain?" [Listen.] "Agar [problem] se aapka [cost] ka nuksaan ho raha hai, toh ye [time] mein recover ho jaata hai. Kya pehle chhota plan try karein?" |
| "Interest nahi hai." | "Theek hai. Kya abhi timing sahi nahi hai, ya [problem] aapke liye relevant nahi hai?" |
| "WhatsApp kar do." | "Zaroor. Sahi cheez bhejoon, isliye bata dijiye: price chahiye ya ye kaise kaam karta hai?" [Listen.] "Abhi bhej deta/deti hoon. Kya main [day] ko call karoon?" |
| "Baad mein call karo." | "Bilkul. [Day] ko [time] baje theek rahega, ya [day] ko [time] baje?" |
| "Ghar pe baat karke bataunga." | "Zaroor. Unka main sawaal kya ho sakta hai? Kya [day] ko aap dono ke saath ek chhoti call kar lein?" |
Tip: Keep the tone polite and unhurried. Use "aap" throughout, even if the customer uses "tum".
What makes a good sales script?
Every template above follows these 5 rules. Use them to check any script you write yourself:
- Write it to be spoken. Read every line aloud. If a line is hard to say, rewrite it with shorter sentences and the words your prospects use.
- Ask before you pitch. The prospect should speak within the first 30 seconds.
- Keep the pitch short. 2 or 3 sentences tied to what the prospect just said are enough.
- End with 1 specific next step. Name a day, a time and a length, such as "15 minutes on Thursday at 4 PM".
- Leave room for personal detail. Placeholders for the prospect's name, company and last conversation make each call sound prepared.
The most common mistakes:
- Opening with a long company introduction before saying why you're calling
- Listing every feature when the prospect cares about 1 or 2
- Ending with "let me know if you're interested", which gives the prospect no next step
- Reading the script in a flat voice
For more, see our list of cold calling mistakes to avoid.
How do you test and improve a sales script?
Change 1 line at a time and measure the result. Your team can run this every 2 weeks:
- Pick 1 line to test. Start with the opener or the call to action, since they affect every call.
- Split the team. Half the reps use version A and half use version B. Aim for about 100 connected calls per version, so a few lucky calls don't decide the result.
- Compare 2 numbers. The share of connected calls that reach the next step, and the share of calls that end within 30 seconds. Many very short calls usually point to a weak opener.
- Listen to 5 to 10 recordings per version. Note where prospects lose interest or push back.
- Keep the better version and test the next line. To check script adherence, pick 5 recorded calls per rep each week and score each on 3 questions.
- Did the rep ask discovery questions?
- Did they state the price clearly?
- Did they book a specific next step?
Our sales call audit guide explains how to run these reviews.
All of this needs reliable call data.
If your team calls from Android phones on regular SIM cards, Callyzer records calls and reports call duration, connected and missed calls for every telecaller, so you can compare script versions without manual call logs.

FAQs
What is a sales call script?
Sales call scripts are written documents that are followed by a telecaller during a sales call. Scripts provide details about how to start a sales call, what to ask, how to describe the product, how to overcome objections, and how to make a sale at the end of the call. Separate scripts are maintained for cold calls, follow-up calls, and closing calls because there is a different objective of each call.
How long should a sales call script be?
The length of the sales call script should be such that it includes all important elements of the sales call without sounding too script-like.
Ideally, the opening phase of a sales call should take around 15 to 20 seconds, then there will be questions to get familiar with the prospect's needs, then the appropriate product or service pitch, dealing with objections, and finally what should happen next.
The length varies depending upon the nature of the sales call itself.
What should a telesales script include?
The telesales script should contain an introduction, the purpose of the call, two to three discovery questions regarding their present situation and understanding prospect's needs, a sales pitch mentioning the price, and finally asking for the sale.
Most telesales calls are made with the objective of closing in one call only, so the closing statement of the script should be a direct ask, such as "Shall I set it up for you now?"
It should also include a prepared reply to "Let me think about it", one of the most common responses on telesales calls.
What's the difference between a sales script and a sales pitch?
The sales pitch is a portion of the sales script. This refers to the 30 to 45 seconds in which the telecaller explains how the product or the service they are offering can solve the customer’s problem.
The sales script includes all aspects of the sales call such as the introduction, the discovery questions, the sales pitch, dealing with objections, and the close.
The sales pitch part proves to be most effective after the discovery questions, once the telecaller has understood the prospect's requirements.
Should reps memorize scripts word for word?
The new telecallers would do well by sticking to the script word-for-word in the first one or two weeks while learning the structure of the call. Once they are comfortable, they should switch to an outline and speak in their own words since the customer will know when they are reading.
Legally binding information such as loan terms or insurance disclosure statements should always be read exactly as drafted in the script.
What's the best opening line for a sales call?
An effective opening line tells the customer, within the first few seconds, who is calling and why the call is relevant to them. For example:
"Hi Rahul, this is Priya from [Company]. You checked our loan rates yesterday, so I'm calling with your options. Do you have 2 minutes?"
Using the customer's name and referring to something they did, such as filling in a form or checking a price, gives them a reason to continue the conversation.
How do you know if a sales script is working?
Check two figures in your call reports weekly.
First, the percentage of successful closes from calls that result in booking a next step.
Second, the percentage of calls that take less than 30 seconds.
An increase in short calls usually suggests there’s something wrong with the opening lines. Long calls that don’t convert suggest an issue with the sales pitch or closing process. Once you've found the source of the issue in the reports, listen to 10 recorded calls to understand better.
How often should you update a sales script?
Check your script on a monthly basis, and make changes one by one, so that you know which change impacts your results. Always update your script when there is any change in pricing strategy or the introduction of a new product, or if there is a new objection from your prospects. Always keep the older version so that you can compare the script performance.
